From the NAACP to Russell Simmons’ Hip Hop Action Summit, Johnson has merged politics and pop culture, getting students personally involved in the issues that matter most. His first book, Everything I’m Not Made Me Everything I Am, has drawn rave reviews from Kanye West and is a practical guide to creating lives filled with passion, meaning, and service. Inspirational speaker Jamie Tworkowski founded To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), the groundbreaking nonprofit to help those who suffer from depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicidal tendencies find hope, love, and support. TWLOHA, which started as a t-shirt sale to benefit a friend’s treatment, has become an international sensation, with the largest online audience of any nonprofit, and has been featured on NBC Nightly News, CNN, MTV, and in Rolling Stone and Spin.
