Award-Winning Documentary Filmmakers Bring “Freakonomics” to the Big Screen

Posted on

Freakonomics, one of the decade’s best-selling books, is coming to the big screen, in a new documentary as thought-provoking as the book itself. Translating Freakonomics–which applied statistics and economics to the analysis of human behavior–to film was no easy feat, but acclaimed directors Alex Gibney, Morgan Spurlock, and Eugene Jarecki, have teamed up to bring its compelling stories to life.

Gibney, an Academy Award-winner for his powerful film, Taxi to the Dark Side, tackles the underbelly of sumo wrestling culture. Spurlock, an Academy Award-nominee for Super Size Me, explores how our first names may affect our entire lives. And finally, Jarecki, a Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winner for Why We Fight, investigates why crime rates dropped in the 1990s. Encouraging audiences to see the familiar and predictable in a new way, the film is a riveting experience that captures the hidden truths of life.

You can host the filmmakers behind the most innovative documentary of the year before the film’s nationwide release! Stay ahead of the curve and contact Keppler Speakers bureau for more information on bringing Alex Gibney, Morgan Spurlock, or Eugene Jarecki to your campus this fall.
