Speaker Mark Zupan Goes for Paralympic Gold
The summer Olympics may be ending soon, but American athletes of a different stripe are traveling to Beijing this September for the 2008 Paralympics. Mark Zupan, the United States’ four-time wheelchair rugby MVP, is one of six team members returning from the 2004 bronze medal team. The top-ranked wheelchair rugby team in the world, they are determined to take gold this year, and beginning September 9th, the world will be watching as they work towards their goal.
Mark Zupan is one of the most inspirational disability speakers in the country. Prominently featured in the 2005 Sundance Film Festival documentary audience award-winning Murderball, Zupan was paralyzed in a car accident while still in high school. Determined to make the best of a bad situation, he shatters stereotypes with his in-you-face attitude and triumph over his struggles. Urging students to follow their dreams and change their lives, no matter the obstacle, Zupan makes a difference with every presentation.
