John Dau Nominated for Volvo for Life Award
John Dau, a former Lost Boy of Sudan, has been nominated for the Quality of Life award in the 6th Annual Volvo for Life Awards.
Dau, one of 27,000 Lost Boys forced to flee their homes in Sudan when the northern government began attacking the south, arrived in the United States in 2001 after walking from Sudan to Ethiopia and Kenya. Now a respected activist working to help Sudan recover from the violence that plagues the country, Volvo for Life has nominated him for the Quality of Life Award for improving the lives of children 16-and-under.
Betty Nguyen Helps the Hungry in Vietnam
CNN anchor Betty Nguyen returns to Vietnam every year to give back to her homeland.
A recent Atlanta Journal-Constitution article highlighted the charitable work of Betty Nguyen. As a baby in 1975, she and her parents fled Vietnam after the Communist takeover, and Nguyen did not return until many years later.
