Leadership Speaker Commander Kirk Lippold on CNN Tonight
Commander Kirk Lippold will appear on CNN tonight at 5:00 PM EST to discuss the United States’ military’s trial against Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the mastermind behind the bombing of the USS Cole. Lippold was the commander of the destroyer when it was attacked in the port of Aden, Yemen, in October 2000. In one of the seminal attacks in the war on terror, Lippold and his crew distinguished themselves by saving the ship from sinking, and his experiences have been invaluable in the fight against terrorism.
With his personal insight into terrorism today, Lippold shares the story of the Cole and what it has meant to United States policy. By describing his experiences, he sheds light on current world politics, opening a window into understanding how to fight terrorism and win.
