Speaker Peter Hillary Celebrates His Father’s Summit of Everest

May 14, 2008

For the 55th anniversary of Edmund Hillary’s summit of Mount Everest on May 29th, his son, climber and adventurer Peter Hillary, will be commemorating the accomplishment in the Himalayas. Celebrating at Tengboche Monastery at 13,000 feet, he will be raising funds for schools and hospitals in the Everest region and throughout the mountains, as part of continuing efforts to give back to the people that make climbing Everest possible.

Part of Hillary’s trip to the Himalayas is also to help acclimatize for his next adventure, a summit of Mt. McKinley in Alaska. McKinley will mark his Seventh Summit, the greatest accomplishment in mountain climbing.

Continuing the legacy of his father, Peter Hillary draws parallels between personal challenges and the challenges that confront climbers of every mountain. His inspiring speeches show audiences how to achieve their goals, survive crises, and reach the summit of their own personal lives.
