Inspirational Speakers Gene Kranz and Jim Lovell Featured in Discovery’s When We Left Earth
Former NASA Flight Control Director Gene Kranz and Apollo 13 Commander Jim Lovell are featured subjects in the Discovery Channel special When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions. This high definition special television event charts NASA’s first 50 years, from the Mercury program to the present-day. On Sunday, June 15th, two hours are devoted exclusively to the Apollo missions, and specifically, the Apollo 13 disaster.
In the documentary, Kranz and Lovell share their memories of the space program, and especially of the incredible teamwork that helped save the lives of Lovell and his crew. Their dedication to a cause and leadership under pressure have inspired audiences around the country for many years.
