About Keith Boykin

When Keith Boykin led the movement for diversity at Harvard Law School, he never imagined that his classmate Barack Obama would one day become President of the United States. Since that time, Boykin's broad and wide-ranging career has taken him from the halls of Harvard to the Clinton White House to a political commentator position for MSNBC and CNBC.

As a special assistant to the president and a spokesman for the administration, Boykin was once the highest ranking openly gay person in the Clinton White House. He later went on to teach political science at American University in Washington, starred in a Showtime political television series, and became the founder and first president of the National Black Justice Coalition.

Boykin is the author of three popular books, including the New York Times best-seller Beyond The Down Low. He currently serves as the editor of the online newspaper, The Daily Voice, hosts the BET television show My Two Cents, and is a visible daily presence on the CNBC television network. Boykin was also an associate producer of the 2007 feature film Dirty Laundry with Loretta Devine and Rockmond Dunbar.

As a diversity speaker, Boykin has spoken to audiences, large and small, around the world. He was a keynote speaker to 200,000 people at the Millennium March on Washington and spoke about the AIDS epidemic in front of 40,000 people in Chicago’s Soldier Field for the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Gay Games. He has also spoken to audiences at Fortune 500 companies, from Hewlett-Packard to Ford Motor Company, and he has spoken at US government agencies, including the State Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Peace Corps, and NASA.

His speech was exactly what we were looking for and more. A few words that might sum it up: Amazing, Extraordinary, Exhilarating, Insightful, Honest! ” - The University of Mississippi
