Alison Mariella Désir

Activist, Author of Running While Black and Mental Health Advocate

Alison Mariella Désir inspires audiences to find meaning and wellbeing through the transformational power of running, movement and the outdoors.

Research shows a powerful connection between movement and positive health outcomes. For Alison Mariella Desir, the bestselling author of Running While Black, running saved her life, connected her to community, and helped her find her purpose.

Alison got her start in the running and outdoor industry unintentionally, after seeing a Black friend train and complete a marathon. Inspired, Alison went on to run her first marathon and discovered that she had found a powerful tool to manage her depression.

Over the past 10 years, Désir has founded and led running movements and become an outdoor adventurer, all in the name of improving her own mental health and that of BIPOC communities nationally. Alison inspires audiences to get moving and to find meaning and well-being through movement.
