“It was my moment. my choice. Keep fighting or surrender and die. I made the choice. I decided to live.”

The most catastrophically wounded survivor in the September 11th attacks, Lauren battled against all odds to emerge from the fires. A world-renowned role model for her resilience and fortitude surmounting personal and professional challenges. Lauren had a successful Wall Street career starting at Lehman Brothers and is a former partner at Cantor Fitzgerald.

Lauren was named by President Barack Obama as the personification of American resilience. She is the recipient of numerous honors in celebration of her strength and inspiration, including a Glamour Woman of the Year. CNN named her one of the most intriguing newsmakers of their first 25 years.

Lauren went on to write The New York Times best-selling memoir, Unmeasured Strength and she is the subject of the NYT bestseller Love Greg and Lauren. Partial proceeds from both books have gone to aid iPads for Soldiers, Sanctuary for Families, and The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund. Since earning her MS in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University, she is currently writing Ricochet: Patients and their Clinicians, Unintended Victims in the Friendly Fire of American Healthcare Reform.

Lauren’s success is evidenced in her actions — Ultimately, we must be our own teachers. Lauren continues her distinguished corporate career as a managing director at Golden Seeds, one of the nation’s most active early-stage female focused investment firms. She is executive director and co-founder of Narrative Mindworks, The International Narrative Practices Association.

"We are each confronted by adversity, but we can refuse to be held by it.”
